June 20 First Day of Summer!!!!

Thank you to the parents who drove and came to our field trip at Explosion Gymnastics!  The kids really enjoyed it.  Thanks to Connie Mitchell for picking up the popsicle treat for us.

A few important notices:

1.  Sandy Beach forms were due on Tuesday.  I've resent a few so please make sure to have them back tomorrow.

2.  Elementary Awards in am on Thursday.  The Grade one's will be performing their Oratory choral poem.

3.  Bike rodeo - Thursday pm.  It's been on the Monday memo and a note went home yesterday.  Hopefully, everyone can make arrangements to bring a bike and helmet (any kind) for today by noon.

4.  Summer Olympics fun day Monday, June 25.  Parent volunteers would be great so if you can spend all or part of the day let me know as I'm organizing it.  Children might want to bring an extra set of clothes as they could get wet!!!!!!!!

5.  Report cards will go home on Monday, June 25 for Grade one

6.  Sandy Beach on Tuesday.  Please read information sent home carefully.  I have added it again to the end of this blog.

7.  Putting Zone refund - look for the $3.00 refund in your child's pouch.

SANDY BEACH INFORMATION

The Kindergarten, Grade One and Grade Two classes plan to go to Sandy Beach
on Tuesday, June 26, for our year-end field trip.  We will leave from the school at approximately 9:30 to arrive at Sandy Beach at 10:00.

Please note:  We will not be taking a bus this year.  We will require parents to transport their own children to Sandy Beach if possible.  We will be able to transport a few students in teachers’ cars (Mrs. Hunter, Mrs. Burzynski and Mrs. Tenney)
If your child is unable to travel with you or another parent, we will need to know this so transportation can be arranged.

We will leave Sandy Beach at 2:00 to return to the school.  In case of poor weather, we will decide whether or not to cancel in the morning after the students arrive.  Then parents can transport their own children to school instead, if they wish.

We must have Parent Volunteers for this trip.  Northwest School Division Policy requires 1 adult for each 4 students.   We will NOT be providing a lifeguard so parent help is essential.

Attached is a Permission Slip and Transportation form.  This needs to be returned by Tuesday, June 19. If we do not have enough parents willing to help supervise and transport students we will cancel as of Wednesday, June 20.
Each parent supervisor will be required to supervise their own children.  We will also ask parents to supervise 1 or 2 additional children as needed. You must have your full attention focused on the children you are supervising so we ask that you do not bring pre-schoolers unless you have made arrangements for another adult to supervise them for you.

Potluck Lunch – in the past our Potluck lunch has been a big hit!  Each family provides a small plate of food such as meat and cheese, crackers, cut-up fruit, veggies and dip, pizza slices, sandwiches, cookies, etc.  The school will provide juice, plates, and cups.  Please be aware that the ‘Nut-free” rule applies to all food.

Beach Rules – we ask that students come to school with suncreen already applied.  If you feel your child needs a lifejacket, please send one.  They may bring sand toys such as buckets, pails, shovels etc.  Please do not send water toys such as inflatables, beach balls, water guns etc.  They will not be able to bring them to the beach. We need to focus on the children in the water: not rescuing toys or watching for water guns.  Parents will also want to bring a chair to the beach, etc.

Allergies –If your child has an allergy to bees, etc and requires an Epi-pen, please make sure his or her teacher is aware of it and an Epi-pen is sent from home.

Thank you for your cooperation.  This is a really enjoyable activity for the children but, of course, our first priority is for the safety of the students.  Please call us if you have any questions.

Mrs. Burzynski, Mrs. Hunter, Mrs. Tenney
